- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) Atlantic (SSC-A), 551Network & Communications Division, is seeking information on Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) wireless network systems (3G / 4G, WiFi, WiMAX (Mobile), LTE, WCDMA, GSM, and/or other) that can be used by military forces to provide wireless access Moral Welfare Recreation (MWR) access over a large area to a Point of Presence (PoP) in a harsh environment. The expectation is to deploy a wireless system from CONUS into Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) / OCONUS within a two to- four week time frame. Responses to this request should describe how the wireless network system would be suitable for subject environment with preferably no change to WiFi client devices. All information received will be treated as public knowledge and may be used in SSC-A documentation. Vendors should not submit proprietary information in response to this RFI. Specific information sought includes: 1. Company name, address, telephone, URL, revenue, and number of employees. 2. Whether the company is a manufacturer, distributor, or provider. 3. Point of contact for follow-up information; phone number and e-mail address. (Business, Programmatic, & Engineering) 4. Submittal responses for product and/or system name and features/description. Loading traffic and scalability models, RF coverage maps (samples), Wireless System and Network topology layout, mobility capability, DoD wireless compliant, and overall schedule / calendar for deployment. 5. Submission format only accepted in MS Office power point, word, or excel. 6. Cost information such as purchase price and General Services Administration (GSA) schedule information. 7. Past technical experience with large area wireless deployments, wireless communication, and cost of all aspects of deployment Determination as to an individual products suitability will be made by SSC-A based on the objectives of this request. Vendors may be contacted following submission for more detailed product information. Respondents are required to provide responses by e-mail to the point of contact no later than COB or 1700hrs Oct. 23, 2009 eastern time zone. This RFI is for information gathering and planning purposes only, and should not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or solicitation of an offer. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
