Description
The Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility (NCTRF) in Natick, MA is conducting a market survey seeking information from Industry, Academia and Government facilities on research and development (R&D) efforts or concepts on advanced safety footwear components or systems (e.g. new or improved safety toe technologies or emerging safety footwear technological capabilities). Any novel technologies or designs will be considered. The goal for these concepts is to improve the protection, comfort, and performance of safety footwear for the Warfighter. Please provide a white paper (10-page limit) describing your R&D effort or concept and include how your concept will improve the protection of the future Warfighter and list any other benefits of the technology. If available, and as applicable, please include test data (including test method utilized), any other additional supporting documentation and conceptual drawings of the concept proposed. Respondents are encouraged to explain the concept(s) as follows: via descriptions of design; intended functions; innovative and novel elements; descriptions of how the concept will benefit the Warfighter; descriptions of potential risks; descriptions of trade-offs considered in concept development and descriptions of capability for prototype fabrication. Respondents should also include a description of their background/experience, and any other information that the respondent believes demonstrates the value, performance and capabilities of their concept and the ability to improve the protection of the individual Warfighter. As papers are received and reviewed, additional materials, prototypes and/or information may be requested for inclusion in the market survey. Please submit responses by 5 November 2009 to the point of contact identified below. This RFI is solely for information and does not constitute a solicitation or the issuance thereof. All information received in response to this RFI that is marked proprietary will be handled accordingly.
