Description
PLEASE NOTE: ONLY CHANGE IS TO THE NUMBER. New # is W909MY-10-R-Z305. The United States Army Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) will conduct an Industry Day Conference on Tuesday, 10 November, 2009. The purpose of this conference is to provide information on the Advanced Weapon Sight Technology Army Technology Objective for Demonstration (AWST ATO [D]). The conference will be held at the Hilton Springfield located at 6550 Loisdale Road, Springfield, VA. This announcement is issued solely for information and program planning purposes. The Industry Day does not constitute a formal solicitation for proposals. Attendance at the Industry Day is voluntary and is not required in order to submit a proposal for the AWST ATO [D]. NVESD will not provide reimbursement for any costs incurred to participate in the Industry Day. All information and discussions that take place at the Industry Day will be done at the unclassified level. The purpose of this meeting is to exchange preliminary information with industry and present the Governments acquisition strategy for the AWST ATO [D], which will design, develop, and integrate the next generation of prototype Family of Weapon Sights (FWS) for Demonstration and User Evaluation during the FY 10 - 12 time period. The FWS are intended to define role specific system capabilities for the infantry Soldier at the rifle and weapons squad level. The FWS could include a light weight clip-on thermal imager for the basic rifleman; a medium weight thermal or fused weapon sight for the squad designated marksman and automatic rifle; and a heavy weight thermal or fused weapon sight with range finder interface and ballistic computer for crew served weapons. The goal of the AWST program is to enhance Soldier capabilities regarding Situational Awareness, threat detection, range performance for target engagement and reduced timelines between target detection and engagement. Questions will be addressed during Industry Day, however the Government may not respond to all specific questions or comments submitted in response to this announcement or information provided as a result of this announcement. Attendees are requested to check-in from 8:00-8:30am. A briefing will be held with all attendees from 8:30-9:30am. This will be followed by one-on-one sessions with individual companies interested in discussing the AWST ATO [D] program. One-on-one sessions will not exceed 20 minutes in length. If you are interested in participating in a one-on-one session with the Government, please submit your request to Kathleen Sears at (703)704-0828 or email kathleen.sears@us.army.mil not later than 3 November. Time slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis. The Government requests that Industry limit their number of attendees to four per company. Briefing slides and additional information associated with the Industry Day may be posted to the IBOP following Industry Day. Industry is encouraged to respond to this information by submitting questions and comments by email to kathleen.sears@us.army.mil.
