Description
Western Regional Contracting Office intends to award a contract under FAR Part 6.302-1 for an Ultrasound Imaging System to Volcano Corp in the amount of $95,000.00. The instant procurement is a specific one time buy and is not available for competition. The required item is to be used for the treatment of cardio patients in the area of cardiac catheterization. The Army Medical Centers are using this equipment and standardizing will allow for more diagnostic review by other Cardiologists. This equipment will be used in the Operating Room and eliminates possibilities of under sizing stents or balloons, and decreases the potential risk of restenosis. The Volcano is a stand alone device specific to the vascular service at MAMC. There is no other device capable of fulfilling the mission that this equipment provides. This Volcano Ultrasound is to replace the current Ultrasound machine which is quite old and may fail at any time leaving the Operating Room at a standstill. This requested purchase will also standardize the equipment that the Cardiologists use at MAMC. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302-1. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days (thirty days if award is issued under an existing basic ordering agreement) after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
