Description
The Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility is seeking sources of an improved white polyester washable fabric for potential use in Dress Uniforms for the US Navy. Fabric performance characteristics should be equal to or better than the current fabric which is specified in MIL-C-87052 (see attachment for specifics). Fiber content of the improved fabric is not limited to the fabric specified in MIL-C-87052. The fabric shall be a woven; show fastness to light, laundering, combined laundering and bleaching, wet-dry cleaning and perspiration; resilient to high temperature wash with no soil redeposition in the laundering process and maintain the white appearance for the lifetime of the garment; improved hand, drape, wrinkle resistance, opacity, ability to maintain creases, and include if any, state of the art finishes that will enhance the performance of the fabric. The fabric shall also be able to be home laundered, maintain colorfastness to dry cleaning and withstand shipboard or field laundering conditions. The fabric must match the visual appearance of the currently specified white polyester twill fabric (swatch available upon request). This Sources sought notice is subject to the Berry Amendment, 10 USC 2533a. Manufacturers who believe they have product(s) capable of meeting the aboverequirements are requested to contact Susan Krantz at (508) 233-4798, x216 or via Email at skrantz@nctrf.natick.army.mil by October 30, 2009 to schedule an appointment at NCTRF to present product information such as sample yardage, productliterature, company brochures, places of manufacture and other relevant information. All the aforementioned material may also be sent to Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility, Attn: S. Krantz, Warehouse 20-86, Kansas Street, Natick, MA 01760, or submitted via email to skrantz@nctrf.natick.army.mil, no later than October 30, 2009. Submitted information and materials will not be returned. This Sources sought notice isnot a request for proposal or quotation. No solicitation document exists. This Sources sought notice is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to procure these items, nor does the US Navy intend to award on the basis of the sources sought notice or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement payment of direct or indirect cost or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submissions of responses tothis request for information and Government use of such information.
