- Description
- The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA)in behalf of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command intends to purchase on a sole-source basis Cell Culture Products from Lonza Walkersville, Inc., of Walkesveill, MD 21793. The requirement entails the purchase of two cell lines, media and subculture reagents as follows: 1. Clonetics Bronchial Smooth Muscle Cell System, 3 vials; Cat. #: CC-2576, 2. Clonetics Pulmonary Artery Smooth Muscle Cell System, 3 vials; Cat. #: CC-2581, 3. SMGM-2 Bulletkit, 12 bottles of media plus growth factors; Cat. #: CC-3182 and, 4. Reagent Pack Subculture Reagents, 6 packs; Cat. # CC-5034. Lonza is uniquely qualified to provide the cell systems for scientific research as their cell systems and cell growth media with supplements are proprietary. The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD)needs to continue use of Lonza cell culture products to provide for consistency and reputable research results for an on-going research project. USAMRICD has long standing experience working with Lonza's products and their primary human cell lines are always extremely reliable and without any failures. To use another company would require us to validate their product which would lead to unnecessary and avoidable waste of U.S. government funds, labor, time and material. Such waste of time and effort to attempt full and open competition would result in irreparable harm to the on-going research and ultimately result in serious injury to the Government. Current research progress and continued funding is dependent on the next research progress report which is due in Deceber 2009, and much valuable time would be lost if testing different sources of research material is required and jeopardize already completed pahses of the project. This would cause an unwarranted delay in the research and milestones not being accomplished. All responsible sources may submit a capability statment, proposal or quotation which shall be considered by USAMRAA.
