Description
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract in accordance to FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), authorized or required by statue. The Research Department at the Providence VA Medical Center requires the Integrated Systems Solution for Virtual Iraq to treat returning Veterans suffering with PTSD. This unique system conforms to the Institute of Medicine's recommendation for treatment of PTSD through exposure therapy. Under statue 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) Providence VA Medical Center intends to make a sole source award of this requirement to Virtually Better, Inc. The proposed contract action is for the Virtual Reality System which contains a copyrighted clinical protocol manual funded by the Department of Defense with a treatment approach recommending on average 8-12 sessions. Virtually Better, Inc. has a proprietary manner in which they create, install and support the hardware system used for Virtual Iraq. This specific system is available exclusively through the manufacturer and no other source maintains the specifications required for project the Research Department at the VA Medical Center in Providence is conducting. The Government intends to award to only one source Virtually Better, Inc. under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation document is available.
