- Description
- (RECOVERY ACT) The National Institute on Aging, IRP intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a competitive basis for the purchase of a Tabletop Ultracentrifuge with a fixed angle Titanium Rotor Package, Polyallomer Tube and Adaptor under Simplified Acquisitions Procedures. In the lab of Research and Resource Branch (RRB); at the National Institute of Aging, this equipment purchase will assist IRP investigators in mass spectrometry-based proteomic studies. A critical step for the successful mass spectrometric analysis lies in a sample preparation prior to mass analysis, such as the reduction of the sample complexity and/or the enrichment of the target proteins. Tissue samples or cell pellets often need to be fractioned to obtain various organelles, which are then followed by differential centrifugation to obtain soluble and membrane protein fractions for further protease digestion and mass analysis. Ultracentrifugation is one effective step in achieving organelle fractionation and the preparation of different proteins fractions. Due to the often limited size of samples used for protein extraction and the fractionation conducted by scientists in the IRP, an ultracentrifuge capable of handling relatively small amount of samples is urgently needed in the RRB/PABU lab to facilitate proteomic analyses. Interested persons may indentify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice is a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received prior to June 1, 2009 will be considered by the Federal Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Federal Government. This is a solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 16.2 using competitive procedures. Theses procedures include those indentified under Subparts 6.1, 6.2 (Full and Open Competition and Full and Open Competition after Exclusions of Sources), and FAR Section 16.505(b) (1). The solicitation number is ___ NIHAG2009068, and is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). This solicitation document and incorporated provisions clauses are those in which the FAR has amended to incorporate for the use in RECOVERY ACT actions FAR Subpart 5.7 for pre-solicitation and award notices. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 423450 and the business size standard is 100. The National Institute of Aging requires the following equipment: Table Top Ultracentrifuge Fixed Angle Titanium Rotor Polyallomer Tube Adapter Only electronic offers will be accepted. Offers are due to Pam Paradis at paradisp@mail.nih/gov by the close of business on June 1, 2009. NIA/IRP, BRC Blding., Room 04C009, 251 Bayview Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21224.
