Description
Manufacturer Product Demonstration for Endoscopes The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is engaged in the process of reviewing and revising policies and procedures related to the use and reprocessing of videoendocopes with the goal of improving patient safety. One of the areas identified as providing an opportunity for improvement is that of standardization of endoscopes. Through standardization of endoscopes, it is expected that there will be a reduction in the number of different processes required for endoscope setup, reprocessing, maintenance, and repair. As a result, the number of potential errors may be reduced, improving patient safety. One aspect of standardization is to make an effort to use only one brand of endoscopes in each center, except when certain highly specialized endoscopes are only available from one manufacturer. Another aspect of standardization is to ensure that all the endoscopes of any one brand in any one center are all of one model or generation Therefore, the VA is interested in having a Product Demonstration Presentation on September 30, 2009 as a part of market research. The product demonstration will be held at the VA National Acquisition Center located at 1st Avenue 1 block North of Cermak Road, Hines, Illinois 60141. September 30, 2009 thru October 2, 2009from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Participants will have approximately two hours for product demonstration to include set-up and break-down of equipment. The presentation should include the following, but not be limited to: 1.New Endoscope Technology (including Easy to Clean scopes) 2.The steps required and equipment necessary to properly and safely clean endoscopes products 3.A brief description of auxiliary equipment that might/could be used with the scopes. 4.Provide supplemental charts and diagrams to assist end users; Information that is outside your manuals, however, consistent with your user manuals. 5.The availability of Leasing Arrangements 6.Continuing Education and Training Programs (initial and refresher) 7.Trade In Programs/Technology Update Programs 8.Standardization of Maintenance and Repair of Endoscopes In summary, the VA would like to obtain input from manufacturers regarding the best methods for achieving the following goals of this project: 1)Supplying all endoscopes for each center, all of one generation or model to the extent possible 2)Making provisions for periodic replacement at specified intervals and/or when major model changes occur 3)Providing all maintenance and repair 4)Providing initial training, periodic site visits, refresher training, and instruction in changes, new developments or identified problems that could pose patient safety risks Note: The VA will entertain only one demonstration of a particular manufactures specific endoscope/model, even if it is marketed by more than one vendor. Therefore, interested participants should contact Mr. Marlon Powell, at (708)786-4927 marlon.powell@va.gov by before RFI closing date September 21, 2009 to coordinate attendance. Interested participant should provide information by the above date concerning whether they are a manufactures or distributor of the endoscopes, whether they will demonstrate one or more different types of endoscopes. Identify the make and model of the product being demonstrated. To eliminate duplication of efforts the distributor will not have to present the same product demonstrated by the manufacturer.
