- Description
- AS A RESULT OF THE RFQ, QUESTIONS WERE SUBMITTED AND NOT ADDRESSED PRIOR TO THE RESPONSE DATE. HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS THAT WERE SUBMITTED. NEW RESPONSE DATE WILL BE 08/28/09 @ 4:00 PM MDT IF A COMPANY HAS SUBMITTED A QUOTE AND THIS AMENDMENT HAS ANY INPACT ON THE QUOTE A NEW QUOTE CNA BE SUBMITTED. NO FURTHER QUESTIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Response to inquiries CLIN NO 0002 - What type of probe tip material is required: tungsten, paliney, or beryllium copper? Answer: Tungsten - What radius or diameter probe tip is required? Answer: 25 micrometer radius - What frequency range do the probes need to operate over, i.e. DC to MHz, GHz? Answer: DC to MHz for the as-delivered instrument. Higher frequency operation is specified as an eventual upgrade option in the FedBizOpps announcement. - Do the probes need to have grounded cabling, or is triax cabling required for low leakage measurements? Answer: Triax cabling CLIN NO 0004 - A pump-line vibration isolator is required. Is the turbomolecular vacuum pump for the isolator also required? Answer: No CLIN No 0005 - Is an automatic dewar pressure controller required with the nitrogen dewar? Answer: Yes, but this may also be interpreted as a controlling value set to maintain the dewar pressure at some convenient value in order to provide continuous flow of the cryogen. "Active feedback" control, or a separate pump, should not be required to regulate dewar pressure. Salient characteristics Item a) - What is the maximum footprint? Answer: The basic assembled instrument should occupy a region no more than 40 inches in diameter and 18 inches in height. This neglects ancillary components such as a detachable cryogen transfer line, detachable vacuum line, dewar, vacuum pump, temperature controller(s), microscope, microscope supporting brackets, and so on. Item d) - The sample chuck with optical access, does it need to be grounded, isolated, coax, or triax? Answer: Isolated - Can clear optical transmission be defined further? What range of wavelengths should transmit thru the top and bottom windows? Answer: (a) Optical window on top of chamber must provide 2 inch diameter clear aperture. Eventual upgrade option includes a 1 inch clear aperture window on the bottom of the chamber (on a common axis with the top window and the center of the sample holder). (b) Window material required is UV grade fused quartz (typical transmission range as given by various suppliers of this material is: 230 nm to 2000 nm ) (c) Top window permits 1 inch distance from atmosphere side of window to the surface of the sample holder within the chamber. Item e) - Does this just mean that the system must be able to have closed loop PID control at 95F? Answer: This appears to be a typographical or transcription error. Separate specified control at the temperature of 95F is not required. See next point. - Item e) on the website differs from the RFQ word file. Should they be identical? Answer: Yes, they should be the same. "Salient Characteristics Item (e)" should refer to the distance between the atmosphere side of the top window and the surface of the sample holder as described above. Other items - Is an onsite installation and training required? Answer: No
