- Description
- Recovery Action - Duns 078576738, This modification is issued to obligate American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) of 2009 funds for the purpose of enabling the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) to develop a Cloud Computing testbed for DOE by procuring a highly energy efficient computation cluster and evaluate the testbed using some of the mid-range computing workload from DOE's Office of Science. The cluster will be instrumented to characterize the concurrency, communication patterns, and input/output of individual applications. The testbed and workload will be made available for determining the effectiveness of commercial cloud computing models for DOE. Companies interested in potential subcontracting opportunities are urged to contact the Laboratory. Information for vendors can be found at the following URL: http://www.lbl.gov/Workplace/CFO/pro/small-bus/ The management and operating contract for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory was awarded competitively and this award comprises incremental funding of the Laboratory. The contract is cost reimbursement because the uncertainties of research and development make reasonable estimates of costs nearly impossible and so cost reimbursement is the most equitable arrangement.
