Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), is conducting a market survey to determine the availability and technical capability of qualified small businesses, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business or HUBZone small businesses capable of providing a EZ-TAXIScan Systems MIC-1000, to include all parts and software. The EZ-TAXIScan is a device that monitors and quantities the movement of migrating cells. It will be used to study how lymphocytes move in order to understand why the immune system attacks the pancreas in diabetes. This device is unique from all other related equipment because it is the only one that will record the process with a CCD camera, which is equipped with a high performance lens and a coaxial episcopic illumination system. In this way images are taken at time-lapse intervals and saved digitally. It is the only one that provides quantitative results in chemotactic assays using 100 cells or fewer. The capacity to analyze cellular movement with so few cells offers an enormous practical advantage when examining cellular behavior in precious samples that are difficult to obtain in large amounts, such as scarce blood cells from patients, subsets of cells at specific developmental stages, and cells obtained from small experimental animals. Interested firms with the capability of providing the required equipment are requested to submit a capability statement to assist the Government in determining in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 19.502-2(b) whether or not this procurement will be set-aside for any of the programs described above. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) code 325412 with a size standard of 750. All respondents are requested to identify their firms size and type of business. Interested firms responding to this market survey must provide (a) capability statement demonstrating their experience, skills and capability to fulfill the Governments requirements for the above. The capability statement shall be in sufficient enough detail, but not to exceed 15 pages, so that the Government can determine the experience and capability of your firm to provide the requirements above. Your capability statement, not to exceed 15 pages, should include references. A copy of the capability statement must be received at the address identified in this synopsis by no later than 7 days prior to close of business (5:00 P.M. local time at designated location) on August 24, 2009. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for information solicited. PLEASE NOTE: In order to receive an award, contractor must be registered and have valid certification in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) http://www.ccr.gov
