Description
Notice of Intent to award a purchase order to Eppendorf North America, Inc. for Other Professional Equipment. Eppendorf is the sole manufacturer of an Automated Liquid Handling System for the automation of various liquid handling procedures. There are no other vendors that can provide the capabilities of this system in one instrument with the same performance parameters and compact size. These include optical sensor for the detection of tubes, plates and other lab-ware, including pipette tip types and ability to avoid empty spaces. A liquid level optical sensor can detect levels of reagents and other solutions, for quality assurance and to economize solutions and consumables. This system has an integrated PC with network interface for remote control via Ethernet connection, with notification of run status and file sharing. The PC (which includes a full 19” LCD monitor, keyboard, and mouse) and epMotion PC software supplied with this instrument allows for intuitive use. All reagents and consumables (tubes, plates, etc.), and a wide range of accessories (tube and plate holders, warmers, and shakers) can be obtained from this single source, which is critical to quality control and assurance. Flexible programming allows for liquid transfer between tubes and plates, and ability to re-array plates. Three single and three multi-channel pipetting heads are available, and can accommodate volumes of 1 to 1,000 microliters. This instrument is flexible for a wide range of applications including PCR, ELISA, genomic and proteomic applications. The very small footprint and self-enclosed feature meet the Government’s space and sterility requirements. See Note 22
