Is a particular blend of sod required at Ft McPherson? The Kentucky Blue Grass sod installed should be grown from a blend of 3 or 4 regionally adaptive varieties of seed. 2. How many irrigation heads, which have to be removed, are in the area to be renovated? The estimated sprinkler heads by section are: R&S26D 43A 21V&W 9 Q&I24H 25G 38C&E 30 B&F 43O&P 16 X 7 3. Is the irrigation zoned so the areas to be renovated are on separate and distinct zones? Yes 4. After putting down sod and replacing irrigation heads, will the contractor be able to use the existing irrigation system to keep the new sod watered? Yes. The Cemetery is on well water. The need for metering water usage as stated in Attachment 5, paragraph XII does not apply. 5. How many headstones have concrete that must be removed? According to cemetery records, there are no headstones with concrete collars under this contract. 6. How deep are the irrigation system feed lines? Contractors are to assume the feed lines are well below the 6 inch depth identified as the required till depth. The feed lines were installed more than a foot deep. There are long risers with most having swivel/swing arm on top of the riser. The risers are PVC. Rain bird System-age of system about 3 years Attachments are Glued The heads are 2001 Toro. There is a concrete collar, 3" wide and 3" deep around the risers which makes for easy removal of the sprinkler heads. An Irrigation plan will be made available for the Contractors use but the plan remains with the government 7. Does a Contractor need to get an outside firm to verify the compaction rate of the crushed rock? No. The compaction identified as 90% to 95% is to inform the Contractor of the compaction the government expects. 8. Can the depth of topsoil be six (6) inches on top of the compacted Crushed Rock Base? No. see Attachment 6, paragraph 1.2. 9. Who establishes the grade? Refer to Attachment 6, paragraphs 2.2.10a, b and c. e.g. The prepared surface/finish grade shall be smooth and uniformly flowing. Where ridges, depressions and low or sunken areas have formed between rows--these areas shall be knocked down. Finished grade will be void of a washboard effect. 10. Is the renovation to be from curb to curb? No. The estimated square footage does not include curb to curb. The Turf Renovations is in the burial sections. 11. Who will determine if the stone needs to be replaced and who will be responsible for the cost of the stone? The existing stones are such that it is clear if there is a new crack or chip. The newly chipped or cracked stone will be the responsibility of the Contractor. If for example a stone show an old crack or crevice in the stone, this would be the responsibility of the government. The determination of old verses new damage will ultimately be made by the COTR. The government will identify any cracked or chipped stone of which it is aware. 12. What type of fence should be used for the Staging area? Does the government want a privacy fence? The solicitation states chain link. The area is far enough our of visitor view where a privacy fence is not required. 13. What is required for Turf acceptance? Well rooted turf which cannot be lifted when pulled. It needs to be weed free. 14. Killing the turf may require two sprays. 15. Flat markers are not included under this solicitation. 16. Square unknown marble markers are not included in this solicitation. 17. Note: the licensed surveyor is to validate and/or relocate control markers prior to starting work. Plotting maps will be made available for the surveyors reference during this process.
