In order to meet the required file level data services, will the selected hardware platform be required to communicate via Fiber Channel, iSCSI, CIFS and NFS? Yes 2. Is the battery life required to allow the system to de-stage active data, to prevent data loss, or to provide operational power during a power system failure? To provide operational power during power failure. 3. What is being replicated; How much capacity, how often, which application, from where to where? Data files will be replicated, approximately 1TB of data. 4. Are two 48 port switches needed or will two 24 port switches totaling to 48 connections suffice? Two 24 port switches needed. 5. Do you want software that will allow true storage controller to storage controller remote mirroring to a remote site? No. 6. Do you currently have a Storage Area Network (SAN) installed at your facility? No. 7. Is a total of Qty 32 FC HBAs needed to connect the 17 servers? Quantity is 34 FC HBAs for dual connections to SAN. 8. Are there 17 servers that are to be attached to the SAN? Yes 9. Are the fibre channel host connections for the 17 host systems needed to be connected to the SAN? Yes. 10. How long will your fibre cables need to be? 15 meters. 11. Does the data center require the SANS to operate on 230v or 120v power? 230v power 12. Is the initial storage capacity of 5 TB raw space or useable storage? 5TB useable storage. 13. Which RAID configuration is assumed under the 5 TB storage requirement? RAID 5. 14. Does 5 TB include disk protection (virtual spare drives)? No, 2 global hot spares are needed. 15. Is redundancy required for SAN active controllers and/or fabric switches? Controllers need to have redundancy in case of controller failure. 16. Which internal drive is acceptabel a SAS/SATA or a FATA/FC? Either internal drive is acceptable. The closing date is 24 Aug 09. No further questions will be accepted and there will be no more extensions on this combined solicitation/synopsis.
