- Description
- The Government intends to award a sole source follow-on contract to International Association for Fire Fighters (IAFF). The new contract is for the development of the Project Heroes firefighting ensemble interface to the Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). This task will result in an interface permitting the use of the developed Project HEROES ensemble by military first responders. The effort shall include the fabrication and testing of a part that can integrate the Project HEROES ensemble air ventilation hose to the MSA CBRN facepiece. The task will also include all necessary certification testing to ensure full compliance of the final, integrated ensemble with the CBRN option of NFPA 1971 (2007 edition). The original awards of the Next Generation Structural Fire Fighting PPE (Project Heroes ensemble) were selected from submissions to a full and open competition Broad Agency Announcement (BAA), DAAD05-03-T-0024, in full compliance with the provisions of Public Law (PL) 98-369. The BAA was to identify technologies and approaches that provide near-, mid-, and long-term solutions that enhance the capabilities of the U.S. Government to combat or mitigate terrorism. The original award was awarded to IAFF under contract number W91CRB-04-C-0027. IAFF was awarded the original contract through a full and open bid process. Responses required by 3 P.M. 28AUG2009.
