Description
NAICS Code: 334516 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Radiation & Indoor Environments (RI&E) under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Rules (FAR) Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Canberra Industries for purchaseof ADM-300 Multi-Function Survey Meters with Multiple Detector Capabilities. NO SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR QUOTE IS AVAILABLE. This specific model of insrument is the current standard response kit monitoring device used by the Department of Energy Federal Radiological Monitoring and Assessment Center (FRMAC) organization. The Radiological Emergency Response Team (RERT) of the Office of Radiation and Indoor Air (ORIA) Radiation and Indoor Environments National Laboratory (R&IE) in Las Vegas, NV, and the National Air and Radiation Environmental Laboratory (NAREL) in Montgomery, AL, will support the FRMAC in the event of a radiological emergency per guidance in the National Response Framework. Additionally, R&IE must maintain a capability that is consistan with the FRMAC, both in response equipment and responder capability. Using the same brand and model of equipment that is used by FRMAC will provide consistency of operations during an emergency and will reduce the potential for erros in data collection. This model of instrument has the capability to interface with FRMAC electronic data transfer equipment and that capability is currently in development for EPA electronic data transfer systems. Responder capability will be enhanced with familiarity of the same type of instruments and detectors that are used by FRMAC teams. Notwithstanding, any firm who believes it is capable of meeting EPA's requirement as stated herein may submit a response, which if received within 10 calendar days of the date of this announcement, will be considered. Responses to this post must be in writing. A determination not to compete the proposed Purchase Order based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. All questions should be directed to Trina Fisher via email to Fisher.Trina@epa.gov no later than 4:00 pm EST 5 calendar days after the date of this announcement. No telephone inquiries will be accepted.
