- Description
- For several years, the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Building Environment Division has investigated the use of nanolubricants as means for improving refrigerant/lubricant boiling performance as it pertains to water chillers that air-condition buildings. The research has been conducted on a fundamental basis by studying the effects of nanoparticle size, material and concentration in a pool-boiling test apparatus. The equipment required under this solicitation will expand the research capabilities of the project to include the study of effect of nanolubricants on the performance of a water chiller. The Contractor shall provide all personnel, labor, materials and equipment necessary to design and manufacture a custom test apparatus for testing the effect of nanolubricants on R134a chiller efficiency. Delivery terms shall be FOB DESTINATION. This equipment is classified as commercial equipment in accordance with FAR Part 12, and shall be procured using simplified acquisition procedures under the authority of FAR Part 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 333415. The small business size standard is 750 employees. This requirement shall be competed using full and open competition. The competitive Request for Quotation (RFQ), RFQ amendments, and all questions and answers related to this procurement will be made available via the Internet at http://www.fedbizopps.gov under RFQ number SB1341-09-RQ-0209.
