- THERE WILL BE A SITE VISIT AT VIVARIUM AT NAVAL MEDICAL CENTER SAN DIEGO This can be an optional visit. THE TIME SET FOR THE SITE VISIT IS 9:00 A.M. AUGUST 19 2009. PLEASE CONTACT JAIME LAYTON AT jaime.layton@med.navy.mil. IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE. THE SOLICITATION IS NOW EXTENDED TIL AUGUST 26 2009 AT 4:00 P.M. EST. Q. Who is responsible for the removal of the existing washer? A. The offeror is responsible for the removal of the existing washer. Q. Is there a general contractor responsible for construction work required for any building modification needed to suit the new washer? A. The offeror is responsible for any alterations necessary to install their equipment, and get the equipment to work as designed (properly). Q. Please define the extend (sp) of “seismic zone compatible”. Is a seismic installation required, consisting of engineering approved anchors, cables and bracing? A. The equipment is being installed in an area of frequent seismic activity. The offeror is required to install the equipment in accordance with the standards used for installation of any major equipment item in this region. Q. We would like CAD Drawings of the washroom. A. Unfortunately, they are not available. Q. We would like Spec’s for the layout and the washer. A. You have the information on the room dimensions, and the location of the equipment. Q. How many copies of the RFG do we send and should they be hard copy and/or email. A. Assuming that was a request for quotes, you should email one complete set of documentation to the POC on the solicitation. Q. When Is the expected decision time? A. If an award is not made by 30 Sept 2009, an award will not be made. Q. PARAPHRASED: Delivery by 1 September 2009 is not possible. A. The government is aware of the issue, and will address it with any award. Q. Is is not clear rather (sp) (whether) or not the supplier will be responsible for connecting the new unit to the existing utilities: electric, hot water, steam, and so on. A. The offeror is responsible for installing the equipment and having it work properly. All connections are the responsibility of the offeror. The offeror should not assume the government will provide anything except access to the facility.. Q. We would like to have a POC at the site. A. All correspondence should be addressed to the contracting officer, as per the solicitation. Q. 1. The cage wash room is described as already being "divided into the clean side and the dirty side by a 5.5 inch thick wall...". We don't understand the requirement #5 under "Salient Characteristics". "The resulting room shall be divided into a clean side and a dirty side by a wall with a door through which people can pass..." Please expand on this requirement. The room is divided by a superficial wall with the entrance to the washer on one side and an exit on the other side. This wall has a door through which people can pass. After installation, this setup shall remain.
