Description
This is a sources sought announcement for written information only. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals and no contract will be awarded from this announcement, nor will any reimbursement be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement. The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center (FISC) San Diego, Regional Contracts Department, Seal Beach Division, is seeking information from sources in order to determine whether there are potential and eligible small business firms that have the technical capability to provide a Portable Radiation Shielding Enclosure for the Naval Air Station, Lemoore, CA, in accordance with the following specifications: Desired dimensions are 48W x 48L x 75H steel construction with 3 walls, one roof and floor. Floor must be supported and capable of handling the weight of a radiographer and equipment (approximately 400-500lbs combined). One end must be open for entry and exit of enclosure. The enclosure should be entirely lead lined with 1/8" lead. The 3 walls should each contain a minimum 20" x 20" lead lined window, equivalent to 1/8" lead shielding. Enclosure must be portable, so must contain casters or wheels capable of withstanding structural weight, and handles for maneuvering. No lead should be exposed, so a rubberized coating or paint needs to be applied to all exposed lead areas. Enclosure should be painted a neutral color (grey or beige). Current x-ray apparatus in use is the lorad-160 with a maximum capability of 5ma and 160kv. The distance the radiographer will operate within shielded enclosure will be 50ft, allowing the radiographer to operate within the safety guidelines and not exceed a dose of 2mr per hour. The NAICS code is 331491 and the Small Business Size Standard is 750 employees. It is requested that interested small businesses submit to the contracting office a brief capabilities statement (no more than 5 pages in length) demonstrating their ability to perform the effort detailed above. All responses must include the following: Company Name, Address, and Business Size; Point of Contact Name, phone number, fax number and e-mail address. The capability statement package should be sent to Sari Gearty at sari.gearty@navy.mil. Submissions must be received no later than 4:00PM Pacific Time on 18 August 2009. Respondents will not be notified of the result of this evaluation; however, FISC will utilize the information for acquisition planning. Questions or comments regarding this notice may be addressed to Sari Gearty at sari.gearty@navy.mil.
