- USCG, Maintenance & Logistics Command, Pacific (vpl-1) in Oakland, CA, proposes to contract for Dry-Dock and Repairs of USCGC SHERMAN (WHEC 720), a 378’ cutter, home moorage in Alameda, CA. The period of performance to accomplish this requirement is 06 January 2010 through 02 March 2010. A geographical restriction of 75 road miles within the cutter’s home moorage, Alameda, CA, is applicable under this requirement. Work may include, but is not limited to the following: production control GANTT Bar chart; CIWS deck plating renewal; hull plating and stiffener renewal; hull plating renewal, main deck overhead; hull plating, underwater body inspect; hull plating, underwater body ultrasonic testing; plating renewal – weight room; striker plate renewal – DC stores; striker plate renewal – oil water holding tank; appendages (underwater) leak test; appendages (underwater) preserves, internal; propulsion shaft fairwaters and rope guards inspect and repair; voids (non-accessible) leak test; voids (non-accessible) preserve, internal; bulkhead plating renewal-sewage space; tanks (MP fuel stowage and overflow) clean & inspect; tanks (chain lockers) clean and inspect; tanks (forepeak) clean & inspect; tanks (dirty & waste oil) clean and inspect; propulsion shaft coating inspect & test; propulsion shaft seal mechanical overhaul & inflatable renewal; propulsion shaft bearings (external) check clearances; controllable pitch propeller system general maintenance; hubs general maintenance; propeller clean and inspect; main diesel engine exhaust stack uptakes commercial clean; SSDG exhaust stack uptakes commercial clean; fathometer transducers general maintenance; vent ducting inspect and renew (engine room), vent ducting inspect and renew (fan space), vent ducts (galley and pantry) commercial cleaning, sea strainers (all sizes) overhaul, sea valve (<= 2.5 inches) renewal, sea valve (>2.5 inches) overhaul, firemain valve repairs, potable water pneumatic tank relief valves renew, potable water pneumatic tanks, clean, inspect and hydro, fuel oil manifold valve overhaul, renew fuel oil transfer piping in NOI pump room, steering gear (general) overhaul, rudder stock bearings check clearances, rudders inspect and repair, thruster unit (general) overhaul, thruster unit hydraulic accumulators inspect and hydro test, anchor windlass (Gen) level 2 inspect and repair, anchor chain and ground tackle inspect and repair, single point davit (GEN), Level 3 overhaul; sewage pipe repairs using Maf fittings, hull plating, underwater body preserve, partial, rudders (exterior) preserve, cathodic protection, zinc anode renewal, ammunition hoists & elevators (Gen) Level 2 inspect & repair, temporary services, dry-dock provide, sea trials, dry-docking accomplish, hull plating renewal, general, Misc. plating, ultrasonic testing, appendages (underwater) air test. On or about 27 August 2009, a Request for Proposal (RFP) will be available electronically at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. Only one award will be made to the responsive, responsible bidder under this solicitation. The NAIC code assigned for this requirement is 336611 with a standard size of 1000 employees.
