Description
Provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment supervisionnecessary to complete Project 521-08-117, Upgrade Research Labs 4th and5th Floors at VA Medical Center, 700 South 19th Street, Birmingham,Alabama 35233, in accordance with plans and specifications. Contractorshall completely prepare site for building operations. The existinglabs are the original 1960s interior finishes and casework. Interiorfinishes includes asbestos vinyl tile flooring. The objective of thisproject is to replace six exhaust fans and stack on the roof. Theexhaust fans and stacks replacements are necessary to provideventilation within patient, staff and public restrooms as well as toprevent back drafts and/or staff exposure to exhausted air/fumes. Workincludes general construction, alterations, architectural finishes,plumbing, mechanical and electrical work, utility systems, necessaryremoval of existing structures and construction and certain other itemsidentified within the contract documents and as indicated on theconstruction drawings. The estimated dollar value of construction isbetween $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. Estimated solicitation issuedate is on or about October 1, 2009, with an estimated bid opening dateof November 2, 2009. Note these dates are estimates and could be sooneror later. The National American Industry Classification System (NAICS)Code is 236220 for this procurement with a size standard of $33.5million. This solicitation is set aside for service disabledveteran-owned small businesses. There will be a pre-bid walk through ofthe project and it is highly recommended that any contractor wishing tobid on this project attend the walk through. The pre-bid walk throughtime and location will be addressed in the solicitation. Allsolicitation packages, including drawings will be available to downloadfrom the website www.fedbizopps.gov. No hard copies of the solicitationwill be provided.
