Description
The U.S. Geological Survey, Nevada Water Science Center has a need for a 21' Jet Boat with trailer and 200HP engine. The boat needs be a welded aluminum inboard jet boat and with a tunnel hull that allows the boat to run in shallow water, which will be required to navigate, measure, and sample the tributaries of Lake Mead and the Lower Colorado River. The motor's intake must be raised in the tunnel allowing for very shallow water operation. The preferred "stomp gate," which is used to clear sediment and debris from the jet intake, shall be operated by the driver from a lever. On the bottom of the boat extruded strakes are preferred to help prevent cavitation. The hull must be at least 0.125" aluminum (or other similar metal) and the tunnel 0.25" aluminum (or other similar metal). The subfloor supports should be solid welded aluminum (or other similar metal), which will allow the mounting of a currently owned USGS crane to be used for measuring rivers and sampling rivers and lakes with weight exceeding 150 lbs. In addition, the hull needs to be protected by a material such as Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene, which also provides a slick surface to slide over obstructions or shallow gravel bars. The boat must be able to navigate in 6" of water, which will be encountered in often. Additional details and a list of the specifications will be available in the request for quotation (RFQ). The Request for Quotations, number 09WRQQ0155, will be made available through the Government-wide Point of Entry (GPE) on or about 18 August 2009, IAW Far 5.102(a)(1). All firms must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database at www.ccr.gov, as well as, the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA) to be considered for award. Interested parties should contact the Contracting Officer in writing by email at sklingler@usgs.gov. This notice and any resulting solicitation or contract conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-33, effective 15 July 2009. Includes FAC 2005-35, effective 14 July 2009. For further information, please contact the Contracting Officer by email at sklingler@usgs.gov. NAICS 441222 - Boat Dealers. No numbered notes apply. THIS ACQUISITION IS SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS AND IS NOT EXPECTED TO EXCEED THE SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION THRESHOLD.
