- Description
- Tactical Air Control Party-Modernization (TACP-M) Integrated Data Modem (IDM) Cable IIPRE- SOLICITATION NOTICEFA8726-09-R-0009 This is a pre-solicitation synopsis in accordance with FAR 5.201. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB), nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the government. This synopsis is prepared in accordance with guidance found in FAR 5.207, and is prepared for the purpose of notifying potential offerors of an upcoming solicitation for service or supplies. The solicitation for this requirement will be posted under the same reference number as stated above. The 653d Electronic Systems Group (ELSG), Hanscom AFB, MA intends to release an RFP leading to the award of one (1) Firm-Fixed Price (FFP) contract as a result of a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA), full and open competition. The purpose of this effort is to support the Tactical Air Control Party Modernization (TACP-M) requirement by providing a single Universal Serial Bus (USB) IDM interface cable capable of supporting dual channels in order to support digital Close Air Support for Air Force Tactical Air Control Parties. A critical link in the dismounted digital Close Air Support chain of Air Force Tactical Air Control Party is a rugged, small, light weight, and low power portable computer that utilizes a PC Integrated Data Modem (IDM) to interface with Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Very High Frequency (VHF), High Frequency (HF), and SATCOM radios. Currently, the interface between the computers and the Integrated Data Modem is the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) slot. Many computers in this class lack PCMCIA support and eventually the PCMCIA slots will become obsolete as the computer industry is moving to other interface methods. For questions regarding this pre-solicitation notice please contact Mr. Robert Hylton at Robert.Hylton@hanscom.af.mil. See Note 26.
