- Description
- RECOVERY ACTION. FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. DUNS 175252894. The modification addresses the following work: Conduct research entitled “Center on Materials for Energy Efficiency Applications,” (Lead Institute University of California at Santa Barbara). This work is a portion of the Energy Frontier Research Center work led by University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB), which is funded separately under a financial assistance award (grant). The action is other than fixed price because the modification is awarded under a Cost-reimbursable type contract and is other than fixed price. Los Alamos National Security (LANS) was selected by DOE to participate in this American Recover and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) work as part of a Laboratory-University Collaboration due to LANL’s expertise in the subject matter. The funds will allow research into materials for increasing energy efficiency. The work falls within the Basic Sciences Program of the Office of Science, which is allowed under the prime contract Section J, Appendix B. Statement of Work Section 3.3.1 entitled. “Basic Science Programs” of the current Contract based on the following paragraph: “The Contractor shall conduct research in the areas of materials sciences, chemistry, and geosciences, providing knowledge essential to defense, energy efficiency, industrial competitiveness, engineering sciences, atomic physics, computational sciences, biological sciences, nanoscience, and other areas of national interest, including scientifically tailored materials and mathematics, and advancing the state of science for the benefit of DOE/NNSA.” NOTE: This action is Modification A086 that recognizes Work Authorization no. KC/NS03/9/ARRA-1 (LASO # RA-09-010) issued under M&O Contract number DE-AC52-06NA25396. This action is funded by Recovery Act dollars.
