- Description
- The Social Security Administration intends to issue on a sole-source basis a firm fixed priced purchase order to renew an electronic subscription entitled, Directory of Physicians in the United States, E-Physician profiles from the American Medical Association (AMA) for a one-year period beginning October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. The individual profiles contain primary source information on an individual physician. In order to adjudicate disability claims, components with SSA are required to verify physician credential. Under FAR Part 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Sources Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. This requirement is utilizing procedures in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12 – Acquisition of Commercial Items in conjunction with procedures under FAR Part 13. AMA is recognized worldwide for providing data services and publications to organizations, agencies, and individuals interested in accessing physician related information as physician profiles, statistical delivery service, and publications. AMA is the only known source that can provide these services. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation, but merely notification of the Government’s intent to order this subscription from the AMA. Requests for copies of a solicitation in response to this notice will not be honored or acknowledged. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purposes of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government does not intend to pay for information provided in response to this publication. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. If no affirmative responses are received within 2 business days, in accordance with FAR 13-106-1(b)(1) negotiations will be conducted with AMA as the only source, and a purchase order will be issued without any additional notices being posted.
