- Sources Sought. The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) intends to acquire the following item for the National Weather Service (NWS) to be placed in stock at the National Logistics Support Center (NLSC) in Kansas City, Missouri: NSN: 5961-01-060-6663, ASN: R400-3A12A1Q1, Diode, Reverse Blocking Thyristor, Westinghouse part number 635A716H01 or 589R131H01. Diodes must be in accordance with drawing 635A716H01, Revision L and the parts list to be provided with the solicitation. The proposed action is for supplies available from only one source, under the authority of 41 USC 253(c)(1). This is not a request for quotation and there is no solicitation available at this time. The Reverse Blocking Diode Thyristor (RBDT) is a critical element of the radar transmitter and was built to specification for Westinghouse specifically for use in the WSR-88D transmitter. The design and performance of the RBDT is tightly controlled by the governing Source Control Document (SCD). Extensive testing was conducted with this RBDT in order to qualify it for use in the WSR-88D transmitter. The Government reserves the right to solicit offers based on receipt of affirmative responses to this notice or contract with All American/Powerex, the only manufacturer approved by Westinghouse. Quotes will be solicited following the commercial items procedures set forth in Part 12 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). Only firms that can provide the exact equipment described herein will be considered. All interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities by submitting a required qualifications statement. In order to be considered, firms must furnish detailed product data concerning their capability to provide the exact supplies described herein. Responses to this announcement must be received within ten (10) calendar days of its publication. All responses must be in writing and may be faxed to (816) 274-6939, attention of Jackie Shewmaker. All firms doing business with this Acquisition office must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR).
