- Description
- THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO CONTRACTORS UNDER W91A2K-9197-1001. Under the authority of FAR 13.5, the U.S. Army RDECOM Contracting Center, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, MA intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Purchase Order to Carleton Technologies Inc. of Orchard Park, NY, to procure and test a cooling system capable of directly cooling the Warfighers drinking water has been independently tested at Natick under a CRADA. The tested cooling system comprises of a micro vapor-compression refrigeration system with connectors that can be retrofitted to a standard 5-Gallon water can. Utilizing an extremely efficient design in a small footprint, the cooling system is capable of chilling water in a standard water container a difference of 40F in less than 27 minutes in temperatures up to 125F by circulating the water within in a standard military water container. Carleton Technologies Inc. is a world leader in equipment for use in extreme conditions. Specializing in precision pneumatic engines, Carleton Technologies Inc. is the worlds largest supplier of tactical linear Stirling-cycle cryogenic coolers. These advanced cooling systems have allowed for the development of highly effective personal cooling equipment including the currently fielded Air Warrior micro climate system, enabling aircrews to operate for extended periods in harsh environmental conditions. By tailoring these highly efficient cooling systems to chill Warfighers drinking water, Warfighters operating in hot ambient conditions will have increased endurance and will drink/waste less water. Currently Carleton Technologies Inc. is the only supplier of such a cooling system that is capable of chilling water a difference of 40F under the 27 minute time frame suggested by the Operation Forces Interface Group 2009 report. These cooling systems are also extremely ruggedized and have passed shock and vibration testing to military specifications. Due to the fact that these cooling systems have been patented and fielded by Carleton Technologies Inc., it is in the Governments best judgment to acquire said cooling systems for operational/field testing to meet customer requirements. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement to the U.S. Army RDECOM Contracting Center, Natick Contracting Division, via e-mail at jonathan.lehmann@us.army.mil. no later than 11 August 2009, 05:00 pm EST.
