- Description
- This synopsis is posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at https://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce On Line (NECO) site located at https://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. Description. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) intends to purchase, on a sole source basis in accord with FAR 6.302-1, Tenergy Lithium-ion rechargeable battery kits and battery chargers. Tenergy corporate headquarters is located at 436 Kato Terrace, Fremont, CA 94539. NSWCDD plans to purchase two different products as follows: CLIN 0001 - Qty 700 of Part # 30202 Tenergy RCR recharger kit (includes a 4 pack of batteries and a smart recharger); CLIN 0002 - Qty 5,600 of Part # 30201 Tenergy Lithium-Ion RCR123A Rechargeable Batteries 3.0V, 900 mAh. Product shall be delivered FOB destination to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren, VA no later thanafter receipt of order. No other rechargeable batteries or chargers will satisfy the engineering purchase requirements because during the prototype development, the specified Tenergy products listed above were used. This entailed costly testing and subsequent fielding of equipment with Tenergy products in rugged terrain, extreme heat, and demanding mission requirements. Tenergy products were found to be best suited for use in highly specialized communication equipment. To realize the full return on the current engineering investment, support military operations, and meet project mission requirements, it is necessary to continue to use Tenergy battery products. NSWCDD will accept quotations from the Tenergy manufacturer and any authorized Tenergy re-seller. The award shall be a firm fixed price purchase order and shall be executed under Federal Simplified Acquisition Procedures (FAR Part 13). In order to be eligible for award firms must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database. Vendors may obtain information on registration in the CCR on the Internet at http://www.ccr.gov. This synopsis/sources sought notice is a Request for Quotations. Questions or responses to this notice should be submitted via email to phillip.makely@navy.mil, must be received NLT 3 August 2009, and must reference Quotation Number N00178-09-Q-3053. The award of this purchase is to be made under Simplified Acquisition (FAR Part 13) and Commercial Items (FAR Part 12) Procedures. The Government will not issue a written solicitation as all items are specified in this notice. Closing time and date is 3 August 2009 at 11:59 p.m.
