Description
SOLE SOURCE: UTE INDIAN TRIBE - UTE and Ouray Tribal Lands Soil Clearing Location of Work: All Ute and Ouray Tribal lands in Duchesne and Uintah Counties to be soil surveyed. THIS WORK IS BEING DONE ONTE UTE INDIAN TRIBE AND LAND. UTE OWNES THE LAND AND WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE ON THE LAND AND WILL BE DOING THE WORK THEMSELVES. FAR 5.207(15)(ii) Responsible sources may submit capability statement, proposal or quations which shall be considered by the agency. For a copy of the proposal, contact Tammy Moore at 801-524-4252 or tammy.moore@ut.usda.gov Performance Period: July 1, 2009 to September 30, 2011. Work Products and Procedures •The MLRA Soil Survey Leader shall maintain communications with the Cultural Resources representative of the tribe on the timing and areas of sampling. •The tribe shall identify known areas of cultural resource sensitivity and the soil scientists shall avoid those areas by moving to another area to sample the soil map unit. •The Cultural Resources representative of the tribe shall determine where the soil scientists can work without the assistance of cultural resource technical staff. Soil scientists have had training in recognizing cultural resources and shall immediately cease sampling activities if any artifacts or other indications of cultural resource sensitivity are encountered. •If suspected locations of cultural sensitivity are encountered the location shall be provided to the Tribal Cultural Resources representative. •As determined by the Cultural Resources Representative of the Tribe there may be areas for which the Cultural Resources Representative will accompany the soils staff and walk the area prior to sampling and provide areas of clearance for sampling. •The NRCS Archeologist shall be available for consultation regarding the protocol on dealing with identified sites.
