Description
STATEMENT OF WORK Diffuse Reflectometer We intend to purchase a diffuse reflectometer to measure the diffuse reflectance in determination of the brightness, color, CIE whiteness of pulp, paper and paperboard. The diffuse reflectometer should have the same of equivalent salient qualities as the Technidyne ColorTouch PC from: Technidyne 100 Quality Avenue New Albany, IN 47150-2272 (812) 948-2884 (812) 945-6847 (fax) The primary function of the diffuse reflectometer will be to determine the diffuse brightness (at 457nm) and color of pulp, paper, and paperboard. A suitable reflectometer must show that it meets the paper industry standards: TAPPI T525, TAPPI T525, TAPPI T 527, and TAPPI T 560. Qualities that are desired for the reflectometer include: 1.Utilizes an integrating sphere to provide diffuse illumination and perpendicular (0o) observation geometry designated in optical terminology as d/0. 2.One or more light sources direct light into an integrating sphere which provides diffuse illumination of the specimen. 3.The integrating sphere has an inside diameter of 150nm and is coated with a matte white paint with absolute reflectance of 96 or greater from the light source. The sphere shall be equipped with screens to eliminate direct illumination of the specimen. 4.The receptor aperture is surrounded by a gloss trap (black circular area) of external diameter subtending a half-angle of 15.5 + 0.5o at the center of the specimen aperture. 5.The specimen is viewed perpendicularly (0 o). Only reflected rays within a solid cone, whose vertex is in the center of the specimen aperture and of half-angle not greater than 4 o shall fall on the receptor. 6.Capable of measuring effective residual ink concentration (ERIC) by infrared reflectance at a spectral wavelength of 950 + 5.0 nm, the bandpass at 50% peak height must not exceed 150 nm, and the bandpass at 10% peak height must not exceed 250 nm. 7.Capable of measuring diffuse opacity and provide scattering and absorption powers and coefficients along with contrast ratios at d/0 geometry and illuminant C. 8.Capable of having testing data generate be downloaded into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. 9.Capable of measuring fluorescence.
