- Description
- Sandia National Laboratories, the lead research and development laboratory for the Department of Energy’s physical security needs, is seeking one or more licensees in the field of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) testing to develop Sandia’s long working distance interferometer technology. Sandia is seeking a company or companies to commercially license the technology described in this posting, and expects the successful company(ies) to engage in a rigorous commercialization effort to further develop the technology and market the resulting products. Commercial licensees may have the opportunity to request up to an exclusive license to the intellectual properties in a field of use for reasonable compensation to Sandia. It is expected that the company(ies) that license the technology will promptly incorporate it into a commercial product. Depending on the response to this posting, Sandia may require that potential licensees provide information describing their ability to research, design, develop, manufacture, distribute, market, and service fully functional interferometer systems. The subject technology is an interferometer that provides enough space between the microscope objective and the MEMS device being measured so the device can be easily operated with temporary test leads. This allows interferograms of MEMS devices to be aquired without having to package the MEMS devices and can also allow devices on undiced wafers to be operated and evaluated. Further, interferograms can be aquired from samples in windowed packages or in vacuum or environmental chambers. Potential licensees may also request access to the associated control software and power electronics. To express interest in this opportunity, please respond by mail or fax to Jonathan Gardner by 7 August 2009 at: Sandia National Laboratories, MS 0115, P.O. Box 5800, Albuquerque New Mexico 87185-0115, Fax 505-844-8011, E-mail: jgardn@sandia.gov or phone: 505-284-3557. Please indicate the date and title of the FBO notice. Include company and contact information, as well as a description of how your company meets Sandia’s criteria and could best contribute to the commercialization of this technology. Sandia is a multiprogram laboratory operated by Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company, for the United States Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration under Contract DE-AC04-94AL85000.
