Description
RECOVERY – THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS REQUIREMENT HAS BEEN AWARDED ON A NON-COMPETITIVE BASIS UNDER AN EXISTING INDEFINITE DELIVERY/INDEFINITE QUANTITY CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE NIST CENTER FOR NEUTRON RESEARCH (NCNR). This award notice is issued in accordance with the guidance for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and FAR Subpart 5.705. Contract Number SB1341-07-CQ-0016, Task Order Number 69225 was awarded to Merrick and Company of Aurora, CO on July 10, 2009 in the amount of $455,379.00. The period of performance is July 10, 2009 through December 11, 2009. Work under this task order is follow-on work to a task order awarded competitively in July of 2008 and completed in October 2008 to develop a concept design to upgrade the thermal shield cooling system. Work required under task order 69225 will develop and deliver a detailed design for the upgrade of the plumbing system. The upgrade requires that cooling water be administered by moving it through the shield using a vacuum rather than a positive pump pressure, as in the present mechanical configuration. In accordance with FAR 16.505(b)(2)(iii), this task order is being awarded on a sole-source basis in the interest of economy and efficiency because it is a logical follow-on to an order already issued under the contract and all awardees were given a fair opportunity to be considered for the original order.
