- Description
- We intend to purchase a DSM Xplore 15 cm3 twin-screw Micro-Compounder and a 12 cc Laboratory Injection-Moulding Machine, Fiber Line and Film Device for compounding composites from DSM Research PO Box 18 6160 MD Geleen, The Netherlands, along with downstream processing units for producing fibers, films, and injection molded samples. The system should consist of a compounder (extruder), an injection molder, a fiber spinning line, and a film drawing device. Each unit of the system should be capable of handling small quantities of materials (less than 10 grams), and the downstream processing units should be compatible with the compounder. The required capabilities and attributes of the compounder and processing units are described below. Compounder/Extruder should •Be twin-screw with co- & counter-rotating capabilities •Be capable of compounding small but variable batch sizes (3-15 grams) •Be capable of circulating small batches of materials (preferably with the capability of circulating batches as small as 3g and as large as 15g) •Have pressure or force monitoring and control capability •Have motor load measurement capability •Have screw speed control •Be constructed of durable materials and have scratch-resistant screws and barrel •Have multi-zone temperature control •Have temperature capabilities above 350°C •Have water cooling capability •Be chemical resistant over entire pH range •Be capable of making (at least) relative rheological measurements •Have the ability to be controlled by both computer and stand-alone with the ability to download processing data •Be easily cleanable Injection Molder should •Be able to process small batch sizes corresponding to micro-compounder (~10 grams or less) •Be compatible with the micro-compounder •Employ readily removable and interchangeable molds for producing standardized test samples •Have temperature capabilities above 300°C •Have pressure and temperature control •Be capable of heating and cooling the mold as needed Film Line should •Be able to produce films using a small batch size corresponding to those produced in the micro-compounder (~10 grams or less) •Be compatible with the micro-compounder •Be capable of producing and controlling film thickness to thicknesses down to 10 microns •Be capable of winding film Fiber Spinning Device should •Be able to produce fibers using a small batch size corresponding to those produced in the micro-compounder (~10 grams or less) •Be compatible with the micro-compounder •Consist of a winding unit and a stretching unit •Be capable of heating and stretching polymer fibers •Be capable of reliably controlling and measuring fiber draw ratio If there are any potential vendors that have the afore mentioned salient qualities or better and are interested in being considered, contact Mr. Mike Belovsky prior to the deadline. Be prepared to present your product for consideration.
