Description
RFP # 249-09-R-0006 Opening Date: 7/29/09 Close Date: 8/28/09 The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Tucson Area is soliciting proposals from interested Professional Service Providers and Hospitals for health care services by providing medically necessary Professional Services and Hospital inpatient and outpatient services for eligible American Indians and Alaska Natives. Multiple awards will be made to only those Professional Service Providers and Hospitals that agree to accept payment in accordance with the Indian Health Service Payment Policy published in the Federal Register June 30, 1986 (Vol. 51 No. 125, June 30, 1986, pages 23540-41) The Indian Health Service has instituted a payment policy which was published in the Federal Register (June 30, 1986) to contract for health care services for Contract Health Service (CHS) eligible American Indians and Alaska Natives only with those health care providers who agree to accept, as payment in full, reimbursement at rates no higher than the prevailing Medicare Reimbursement Methodologies, including deductible and coinsurance for allowable charges. Reimbursement rates for services not covered by Medicare Reimbursement Methodologies allowable rates will be negotiated. This service includes, but is not necessarily limited to, Professional Services and Inpatient/Outpatient Medical and Surgical Hospital Services for IHS CHS beneficiaries within the provision of 42 CFR 136. Services must be requested or referred by a designated IHS Contracting Officer or the authorized representatives of the Contracting Officer, whose name(s), organizational component, and dollar limitation per order, shall be furnished to the Contractor by a designated IHS Contracting Officer. The Government may evaluate the quality of professional and administrative services provided, but retains no control over the medical professional aspects of services rendered (e.g., professional judgments, and diagnosis for specific medical treatment). Resulting contracts will be non-personal in nature, as defined by FAR 37.101, and as such, will be provided independent of Government supervision. The period of performance will be for a base year and four option years. Request for copes of the RFP 249-09-R-0006 will be available on July 29, 2009. The close date will be August 28, 2009.
