- RECOVERY - THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. This opportunity is available only to the Home Builders Institute (HBI) under contract number DOLJ089626802. The requirement is for revision of the HBI programs provided at Job Corps centers to include green training as follows: 1.Production of a pre-determined number of green graduates by June 30, 2010 targeting at employment with registered apprenticeship programs or other construction firms through HBI’s nationwide connections to union and non-union employers in the residential construction arena. 2.Development and implementation of green Training Achievement Records (TARs) for all eight specialty areas that HBI is contracted to teach. The eight specialty areas are: Bricklaying, Carpentry, Electrical, Facilities Maintenance, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning), Landscaping, Painting, and Plumbing. The green TARs include a new “Green Awareness” module, new green theory and practices, and highlighting existing TAR line items that are already green in nature. All the green elements must be based on the ICC-700 2008 National Green Building Standard and the 2005 NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) Model Green Home Building Guidelines, both sponsored by the NAHB. 3.Revision of Solar Installation TAR to make it green and aligned to available new National Green Building Standard by the NAHB. 4.Development of a new Weatherization/Green Specialty Area of Studies to be incorporated into applicable TARs as one more specialty choice for HBI students. 5.Establishment of a Weatherization TAR. 6.Potential establishment of a new Solar Installation program. 7.Provision of new instructional materials, equipment, tools, and consumable supplies in support of the above-referenced green TARs. 8.Instructor training for green technology instruction and their attainment of relevant green certifications. 9.Any potential and additional funding area for HBI in support of green to be agreed to by HBI and the U.S. Department of Labor.
