- Provide Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Student Support Services. This sources sought notice is requesting capabilities statements from potential sources capable of providing student research support services to the Air Force Institute of Technology, WPAFB, Ohio. This is a sources sought notice and is not a request for Proposal (RFP). No solicitation is being issued at this time, and this notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or award a contract, not does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. Any information provided by interested parties to the government as a result of this sources sought notice is voluntary. Responses will not be returned. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges to the Government will arise as a result of contractor submission of responses or the government's use of such information. The information obtained from responses to this notice may be used in the development of an acquisition strategy and future RFP. Capabilities Package: interested sources should submit, by the due date listed below, a statement describing the contractor's capability to perform the following functions: General Requirements: The contractor should be familiar with AFIT's unique university mission to educate, and the associated research mission to conduct research in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) and the U.S. Air Force. AFIT's mission requires a contractor who is familiar with local and regional sources of highly-capable and motivated students in the Dayton, Ohio region, including technical schools, colleges and universities that award diplomas or degrees in math, physical sciences and/or engineering disciplines. Request the contractor include in the capability package a plan to: a. Recruit students and post-doctoral research associates with science and engineering disciplines. b. Provide management capabilities for student support services. c. Recruit postdoctoral associates, graduate and undergraduate students with science and engineering disciplines who meet Air Force Security Requirements. d. Manage the summer research program and cooperative engineering student support administration programs. The Government is contemplating a period of performance for this contract of 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2010 with four option period of one year each. The applicable North American Industry Classification System code is 541990. Potential vendors should note that per Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) 237.7302, it is anticipated that any contract for these services will be with a non-profit agency that employs the student research assistants.
