Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Aleda E. Lutz Medical Center, Saginaw, Michigan, intends to issue a solicitation requesting bids to provide all labor, tools, materials, equipment, and supervision to furnish and install replacement handrails, wall guards (crash rails) and corner guards throughout buildings No. 1 and 22 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw, Michigan. This work is an expansion of an existing handrail system presently installed at this medical center. Provide handrails, wall guards (crash rails) and corner guards with prefabricated end closure caps, inside and outside corners, concealed splices, cushions, mounting hardware and other accessories as required. End caps and corners shall be field adjustable to assure close alignment with handrails and wall guards (crash rails). Screw or bolt closure caps to aluminum retainer. Remove existing handrails, crash rails and corner guards as required by the drawings. Patch holes from existing mounting hardware and finish flush with wall.A complete Statement of Work will be included in the solicitation document that will be available on www.fbo.gov on or about July 23, 2009. Interested parties are strongly encouraged to attend a site visit on August 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, 1500 Weiss Street, Saginaw, Michigan. Contractors shall meet in Building 1, 5th Floor Conference Room 5B. Contractors shall contact the Contracting Officer to indicate their interest in attending the walk through. Requests, in the form of an e-mail message to carole.soule@va.gov, must be received by the Contracting Officer no later than Friday, August 14, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Solicitation responses will be due in the Contracting Office no later than Monday, August 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. EST. The bid opening will be held at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, Saginaw, Michigan, 48602. Exact location of bid opening will be announced in the IFB. This procurement is 100% set aside for service-disabled, veteran-owned, small business (SDVOSB). The NAICS code is 238390. The SDVOSB size standard for this procurement is $14 million dollars in average gross annual receipts for the preceding three years. The magnitude of this project is between $100,000 and $250,000.
