Description

RFP 101416 - HSRL The Department of Energy's Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program requires the capability to accurately measure these atmospheric properties. Current efforts are limited by ambiguous detection of optically thin clouds at either low or high altitude (particularly in the day time), and by insufficient knowledge of the vertical distribution of both cloud and aerosol optical properties, especially optical extinction. Ceilometers and micropulse lidar systems operated by the ARM Climate Research Facility (ACRF) lack sufficient sensitivity and accuracy to address these limitations. To address these measurement deficiencies ACRF is purchasing a complement of High Spectral Resolution LIDAR (HSRL) and Raman LIDAR systems. ACRF desires to purchase two (2) HSRL systems for cloud and aerosol studies, one for deployment at the North Slope of Alaska site, and the other as part of the ARM Mobile Facility instrument suite.
