Description
The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity intends to issue a Sole Source Contract with a Base Period and two Option Periods. This award is projected to be awarded to The Philoctetes Project, 20 Bond Street Fifth Floor, New York, NY 10012 for 200 performances over a period of two years of the interaction stage play, Theater of War created and copy written in 2008 by Bryan Doerries. These performances present readings of Sophocles Ajax and Philoctetes depicting the psychological and physical wounds inflected upon soldiers by war, their loved ones and their families. Each performance is followed by audience participation. These performances are used as a catalyst for critical conversations, the sharing of stories and the communalization of the experience of war. The objectives of this work are to (a) De-stigmatize psychological injury by placing it in the larger context of an ancient warrior culture; (b) Develop a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by combat veterans and those who support them both through engagement of the audience with the dramatic portrayal of these challenges and a dialogue immediately following each performance; (c) Facilitate feeling of connection, pride and commitment related to supporting Service members and those who support them through being part of the group dialogue and bonding process; and (d) Develop a powerful tool for military and medical combat stress training. No solicitation document exists. Any firm that believes it can provide the stated capability is invited to submit written notification to the Contracting Officer within fifteen (15) calendar days from the date of publication of this notice. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the firms ability to provide the stated capability. Information can be sent to the Contracting Officer at USAMRAA, Attention: Scott Comeau (MCMR-AAA-P), 820 Chandler Street, Frederick, MD 21702-5014 or Scott.Comeau@us.army.mil. If no responses are received, USAMRAA will proceed with the Sole Source Contract.
