- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award, on a sole source basis, a Purchase Order to Thomas Reuters (Healthcare), Inc. of Ann Arbor, MI. NAICS code: 511210, Software Publishers. The purpose of this procurement is to provide CDC scientists access and use of an integrated and comprehensive set of data bases containing information on health insurance claims. The comprising data bases must, at a minimum possess the following characteristics: (1) Provides health insurance claims data for a minumum of 94 million unique paitents; (2) Ability to track patients over multiple years; (3) Includes, inpatient, outpatient, and prescription drug claims for the privately insured in the United States; (4) For Medicaid and Medicare patients, provides multi-state data of inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and prescription drug experiences, long term care, demographical information, eligibilty information (by month and service), provider type and aid category; (5) Provide data on work-place absences, workers' compensation, and short-term and long-term disability claims' and (6) Possess the capability to link the information to produce new data sub-sets of the popoulation. Only Thomas Reuters (Healthcare), to the best of the Government's knowledge, offers a product, Thomas' MarketScan Data Bases, that meets the above listed minimum requirements. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. However, firms that believe they can provide this requirement are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification, as well as, a capability statement to the contracting office by 16 Jul 2009. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within its discretion. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
