This requirement is scheduled to be advertised unrestricted for full and open competition. Description of Requirement The Government desires to purchase two (2) new diesel outdrive units to power a barge (commonly referred to as the Red Barge) at Dworshak Dam, Ahsahka, Idaho 83520. The new outdrive units shall be able to propel the Red Barge, total displacement 62.74 long tons at two-foot draft, at a speed of eight (8) knots minimum and up to its maximum theoretical hull speed of 10.00 knots. Per FAR 2.101 this requirement is for a commercial item with minor modifications to meet the Governments requirements. The desired outdrive units will be similar or equivalent to a Harbormaster Brand SW3000 unit. The requirement includes: delivery to Dworshak Dam, Ahsahka, Idaho 83520; disconnection and removal of the existing outdrive units; installation of the new units and function testing. Also required is operational and maintenance training on-site to the Governments maintenance staff, and operation and training manuals for all parts and systems installed. Detailed technical specifications and site visit information will be included in the solicitation to be issued on or about 7/2/2009. Site Visit Due to the non-standard aspects of the units configuration, a site visit is scheduled on July 13, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. INTERESTED VENDORS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE SITE VISIT TO GAIN A FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE REQUIREMENT. Details regarding the site visit will be included in the solicitation when it is posted on FedBizOpps on or about 7/2/2009.
