- Description
- The Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) MILSATCOM Systems Wing (MCSW) and Protected SATCOM Group intends to modify the existing CASIES contract, FA8808-06-C-0002, to increase the level of effort by approximately 18,000 hours for Option Year 2, by 29,000 hours for Option Year 3 and by 37,000 hours for Option Year 4 for the MILSATCOM Protected Group (AEHF program). In addition, 28,000 hours will be added for Option Year 3 and 4 to support MILSATCOM Systems Wing Engineering, under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1(a)(2). The modification for increased CASIES support will be issued to the incumbent contractor, Linquest Corporation, 5140 Goldleaf Circle, Los Angeles CA, 90056-1299. This action modifies an existing contract to increase the authorized level of support to the Protected SATCOM Group (MCPG) to accommodate an extension of activities due to over two years of launch slip impacts in the AEHF program. The original contract envisioned a ramp-down of required System Engineering and Integration (SE&I) on AEHF following first launch, scheduled at the time for April 2008. Since then, delays on the AEHF development contract have pushed launch out by over two years. As a result, the planned ramp-down of SE&I requirements is premature, so it is necessary to increase the CASIES effort to support continuing AEHF development and integration. This modification does not add new requirements to, nor extend the period of performance of, the CASIES contract. The MILSATCOM Systems Wing issued a Sources Sought Synopsis on 15 April 2005 to solicit input from industry and examined the acquisition history of this type of support to AEHF program. The program office maintains cognizance over the protected SATCOM market and has seen no other companies emerge with the capability to meet these requirements without incurring a significant duplication of costs and unacceptable schedule impact to the program.
