Sources Sought Notice This is a sources sought notice published for market research purposes only. Anticipated NAICS code is 541690. The Forest Service is conducting market research on a possible requirement for wildlife monitoring strategies and risk analysis for human use overlap in southeast Alaska. Requirements for project includes the following: Contractor shall be: (a) familiar with the Land Management Plans for the Chugach and Tongass National Forests in Alaska, (b) experienced in the issues surrounding the Land Management Plans and (c) have experience with the species and topics under consideration in project. Project consists of three following tasks: 1.Brown bears and human use at the Russian River and Kenai Peninsula. Contractor to develop monitoring strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of management actions on the Russian River based on the Russian River Strategic Plan. Facilitate gathering and synthesis of information on brown bears on the Russian river and Kenai Peninsula 2.Doing a risk analysis for human use overlap with sensitive habitats and species (of conservation concern) associated with recreation activities and distribution of human use in the Prince William Sound. 3.Establish Correlation among descriptions of vegetation from the size-density vegetation model to habitat of select wildlife species in southeast Alaska. The magnitude of this project is estimated to be under $100,000. Funds are not currently available or obligated for this project but are expected in fiscal year 2009.
