- NASA/JSC has a requirement for Logitech Lapping and Grinding Jig (PLJ2a) andaccessories as follows: VS2 Vacuum Unit (free standing or wall mounted) for use with PM5,PM4, PM4A and GTS1 Saws (110v/50-60Hz) (Qty1), PLJ2a Precision Lapping Jig with customchuckface to accept as many as possible 1" round test slides (Qty1), Rotary VacuumAdaptor with tubing for use with PLJ2,PP5GT, PP6GT, PP8GT and Vacuum Chuck mountingblocks (Qty1), Cast Iron Lapping Plate, radical grooves, for use with PP5/PLJ2 jigs onPM2/LP30, 12"/30cm diameter (Qty1), Steel Conditioning/Retaining ring, 5"/127 mm diameter(Qty1), Pressure blick, 4"/106mm diameter (Qty1), Leading weight for Lapping Plate TestBlock and Pressure Block, 3.5kg (Qty1), Granite master flat block (Qty1), Lapping Platetest block-cast iron-5"/127mm diameter (non-grooved) for use with PM5, LP50, LP600(Qty1), Flat lapping gauge-two fail for PLJ2 jigs (Qty1), and Silicon Carbide Powder, 600Grit, 5Kg pack (Qty1).NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Logitech Ltd. Logitech Ltd. is the only responsible source uniquely qualified to fullfill therequirements. The Lapping and Grinding Jig (PLJ2a) is manufactured by Logitech LTD. TheLapping and Grinding Jig and accessories will replace aging (and failing) equipment. Thenew capability will increase output over that of the dated machinery, while maintainingquality. The PLJ2a is custom made to fit onto the equipment we have as an accessory. Anyother equipment would be extremely risky because it could cause problems with theexisting equipment, likely produce samples that are not useful to us, and could evencause unwanted damage to the samples. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:30 p.m. local timeon July 1, 2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
