Description

The U. S. Maritime Administration's, Division of Atlantic Operations will solicit quotations to install and commission a government furnished MSD device rated at 37 gpm influent aboard the Training Ship State of Maine. All work shall be performed in accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The MSD device is a Smith & Loveless FAST (Fixed Activation Sewage Treatment) Model D-6S which includes a machinery module, media tank, roots blowers, tablet chlorinator, discharge pumps and associated controls. It’s overall, combined dimensions are approximately 17 ft long x 6 ft 6 inch high x 6 ft 9 inch wide with a dry weight of 8,600 lbs and operating weight of 31,100 lbs. The new MSD device shall be installed in a manner to accept and treat all black water drains in the forward part of the ship. The installation shall require both mechanical and electrical trades as it will involve modifications to existing structural, piping and electrical systems. Installation and commissioning shall be completed no later than 1 December 2009.
