Description
NASA/JSC has a requirement for several components associated with the KeyenceVHX-600 Digital Microscope System as follows: Motorized Stage for VH-S5 3D profilemeasurement (Qty 1), Stand for high magnifying lens (Qty 1),VH Zoom lens500x-5000x(Qty1), Portable Monitor Microscope Fiber Scope Attachment 1000MM( Qty 1),C-mount Attachment for VH-X (Qty 1), Fiber Conversion Adapter (Qty 1), Z100/450/500 FiberCable (Qty 1). NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Keyence Corporation of America.Several critical tasks in 2009 and 2010 include collecting data of the micrometeoroid andorbit debris impact craters on the surface of the Hubble Space Telescope Wide FieldPlanetary Camera 2 radiator and on several Multi-Layer Insulation panels retrieved duringthe STS-125 mission, and characterizing hypervelocity impact test articles. An existingkeyence VHX-600 digital microscope will be used for these tasks. Keyence microscopecomponents are the only ones that will ensure capability with the existing KeyenceVHX-600 microscope.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:30 p.m. local timeon June 19, 2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
