- Description
- The National Hansen's Disease Programs requires a contractor to provide pharmacy services and prescription drugs for the NHDP residents. The contractor shall provide personnel, transportation, management, supervision to provide medications in unit dose, punch card, or vial dispensing systems. (Unit dose is the preferred method of distribution for the majority of residents) The Contractor shall deliver medications on an as needed basis as well as provide an acceptable timeframe for delivery of emergency medications. The Contractor shall use generic medications whenever possible. The Contractor shall have the expertise in doing drug regimen reviews and offering therapeutic substitutions. The Contractor shall have a current formulary targeted specifically to the geriatric resident. The Contractor shall supply the facility with medication carts if a distribution system other than unit dose is provided. The Contractor is required to be an approved provider Humana Gold Resident Insurance, other 3rd party insurance and Medicare. The contractor shall have the ability to bill Medicare, Humana Gold Resident and 3rd party supplementary insurance for reimbursement of services. Approximately 90 percent of NHDP residents are covered by Humana Gold Plus HMO H1951-005 and 96 percent have a Medicare Part D and/or other health insurance (OHI). OHI is any health insurance received through an employer or private insurance program. The contractor shall directly bill the resident‘s insurance for reimbursement of services. Resident's insurance company shall be responsible for payment of services. The Government will not be responsible for payment and shall not be billed for these services. NHDP will be responsible for all co-payments and the coverage gap. The anticipated period of performance is date of contract award through September 30, 2009, with 4 one-year options. This notice is not a request for proposals. The solicitation document (RFP) will be posted at www.fedbizopps.gov on or before June 8, 2009 and can be downloaded by looking under the main menu for HHS/office - Health Resources and Services Administration/locations-HRSA/BPHC/National Hansen's Disease Programs. The closing date for receipt of proposals will be approximately thirty (30) days after issuance/posting of the RFP. It shall be the offeror's responsibility to monitor the website for the RFP and any amendments to the RFP. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor the site for amendments to the solicitation.
