Description
SYNOPSIS: The General Services Administration, Automotive Acquisition Support Division plans to award a Fixed-Price, Requirements type contract for seven (7) tram systems. The contract will have one 12-month base period with the Government’s option to extend the term for up to two, 12-month option periods. The tram system consists of a conventional type tractor (pulling unit) and an open, 50-passenger trailing unit built in accordance with the government purchase description. The tram route, in the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias in Yosemite National Park, is a dedicated route of a narrow, twisting, and uneven asphalt road approximately 8 miles in total length, ascending and descending 1000 feet along the route. The maximum grade is slightly more than 12 percent. Each tram makes approximately four daily trips, seven days a week, for approximately six months a year. During the open season, the trams are continuously exposed to the weather elements. The Grove is not open to visitors during the winter months, during which the trams are parked in Yosemite Valley in open storage. All components shall be selected, installed and protected to the maximum extent possible to assure maximum life under these open conditions. The GSA Automotive Acquisition Support Division will manage the procurement, which is a 100% small business set aside. Offers will be in English and in US Dollars and award will be made to the lowest price, technically acceptable offer. Shipment is FOB destination; the first production tram system will be delivered 180 days after receipt of order (AR0) with the remaining six trams delivered 240 ARO. The solicitation for these commercial items, QMAA-F0-090161-N, will be issued on or about June 3, 2009 and closes on June 26, 2009. This requirement will not be available in paper copy; contractors can download the file at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. Point of Contact is Craig Walsh, 703-605-2864; E-mail: craig.walsh@gsa.gov; Fax:703-605-9933.
