Description
U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific aboard MarineCorps Base, Camp S.D. Butler Okinawa, Japan hereby gives notice of intent to award a sole source requirement to Catharsis Productions. Under authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The requirement is to provide a sexualt assault training that distinguishes itself by mixing improvisational comedy, education and audience interaction. Provokes discussion about dating, sex and the issue of consent. Explores how social pressures, gender roles sterotypes, power inequity, false preconceptions and unrealistic fantasies can make social interaction, as well as dating, a challenge. Presenters need to show how these factors can lead to sexual assault and teach the audience the true nature of rape The training needs to use humor to engage the audience into candid discussions about their beliefs and experiences. The presenters will strike a balance between laughing about the differences between men and women and clearly communicating the serious messages about how we all should treat each other. Creates the critical dialogue necessary to dissolve enduring rape myths and encourages thoughtful, accountable intimate behavior. Teaches the difference between coer! cion and consent. It needs to challenge audiences who have mislabeled coercive behavior as seduction and to reexamine a culture that too often holds victims of rape responsible for their own vulnerability. Encourages the audience to both provide solutions for creating safer and healthier interpersonal sexual relationships and brainstorm how they could positively intervene as bystanders when they witness a friend or stranger in a vulnerable situation that could lead to sexual violence. The training should be relatable to the military lifestyle and should reflect the military jargon, customs and courtesies. The training will take place on all Marine Corps Bases on Okinawa, Japan over a 5 day period, 3 trainings per day, a total of 15, 60-90min training sessions. Anticipated award date is 1 June, 2009. Point of contact is Sgt Philip Pickens: Email Philip.pickens@usmc.mil.
